Civic Tourer

In Honda on June 1, 2015 at 8:42 pm

It’s 10 years since I last bought a Honda.

Mine was a last of the line Civic Type S, which preceded the Space Ship design which came out in 2005.

I really enjoyed my 2.0 litre Civic, it wasn’t so user friendly as the modern versions but looked good and handled well.

Here’s the latest 1.8 litre Petrol Civic Tourer.

From behind it has to be one of the smartest estates you can buy.

Then there’s the front.

All slippery and efficient.

This particular example comes loaded with extras like Touch screen Sat Nav (actually very similar to the unit in my old Civic), and there’s the three settings for the suspension, and very snazzy alloys.

Metallic is extra, but you’ll find very few solid red or white ones on the road, so I guess you can haggle to have that option fir free.

I haven’t taken any shots inside, but it’s pretty much the same space age plastic from the previous model, but with a few minor updates.

The gearbox remains as slick as ever, and the digital speedo is very clear.  Although you do have to rev this machine to get it moving, which in turns hits the fuel consumption.

My brother in law gets between 32 and 33mpg from this example, although friends with the 1.6 litre diesel regularly get high seventies, and low eighties on cross country commutes.

The leather seats aren’t particularly comfortable in the back, but up front it’s fine.

The real party trick on this car is the cavernous space within a mid-size platform. ¬†I’m not sure I’d buy one, but they are available on good finance packages, and cost 33% less than the equivalent BMW 3 series.

I suppose if i were to revert back to a Civic I’d prefer one with more poke, here’s one from last year’s BTCC.
