First “new” car for 2012

Here’s our latest car.

In fact this is going to be on the family fleet for only a short time, as it was loan which became a “gift” for technical reasons.

The long and the short of it is this.

Our youngest now has something to get him about.

So far I’ve only covered about one yard in it whilst juggling cars on the drive, but a free car is a free car (even Road Tax was included).

It is quite surprising how far the humble hatchback has come in 17 years, but I have fond memories of my last Carina E which was 2.0 litre Executive  4 door Auto.

These machines were built to last, with light controls and economy that shamed Ford’s equivalents back in the naughty nineties.

Even this version which has well north of 100,000 miles on the clock is still fully fit.  Everything works, and will be fascinating to see what sort of MPG it returns, my last one did 36mpg, I’m sure we can get 40 out of this one.
